This privacy notice explains how Drop of Salt LTD (“we”, “us”) collects and uses your personal data when you use our website, contact us, or buy our products. We are the data controller for the information described below.

Contact form enquiries
When you send us a message through the contact form on this website, we collect your name, email address, your message, and — only if you choose to provide it — your phone number.
Why we use it: to read, respond to and manage your enquiry. If you provide a phone number, we will only use it to call you back about your enquiry. We do not use your contact details for marketing, and we do not sell or share your details with anyone for their own marketing.
Our lawful basis: legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR) — our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries about our products and our business. Where your enquiry relates to a potential purchase, we may instead rely on Article 6(1)(b) (taking steps at your request before entering into a contract).
How long we keep it: we keep your name, email address, phone number and message for as long as we need them to respond to your enquiry, and for up to 12 months after our last contact with you in case you have follow-up questions or a related enquiry. We then delete the correspondence. If your enquiry leads to an order or another ongoing relationship, we may keep relevant information for longer — for example, records we must keep for accounting or legal purposes. You can ask us to delete your enquiry at any time by emailing contact@dropofsalt.co.uk.
Who receives it: messages sent through the form are delivered to our company email inbox. Our website hosting provider and our email service provider process this data on our behalf as service providers. If any of these providers store data outside the United Kingdom, the transfer is protected by UK adequacy regulations or appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement.
Orders and payments
When you place an order through our shop, we collect the details needed to process and deliver it (name, billing and delivery address, email address, phone number, and order details). Our lawful basis is the performance of a contract with you (Article 6(1)(b) UK GDPR). Payments are processed by our payment providers (such as PayPal or card processors) — we do not see or store your full card details. We keep order records for as long as required for accounting and tax purposes (normally six years).
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- ask us to correct inaccurate data;
- ask us to erase your data;
- ask us to restrict how we use your data;
- data portability (receive a copy of data you provided to us in a usable format).
Right to object: where we rely on legitimate interests (as we do for contact form enquiries), you have the right to object to our use of your personal data at any time. To exercise it, email contact@dropofsalt.co.uk.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at contact@dropofsalt.co.uk. We will respond within one month.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal data, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it. You also have the right to complain to the UK’s data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO): ico.org.uk, helpline 0303 123 1113, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF.
